Professional Biography
I write on political affairs in Mexico and Central America and was an editor and contributor for the “Washington Report on the Hemisphere” put out by the Council on Hemispheric Affairs (COHA) for several years. I am currently a board director of the Denver Justice & Peace Committee (DJPC), providing support for environmental justice movements in Latin America. I also serve as an expert witness for those seeking asylum from violent areas of Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico. In addition to teaching International Political Economy and courses in US-Latin America relations, I am the advisor to the MA International Studies degree program at Korbel.

Research
I study land rights conflicts and environmental movements associated with export-driven development in Mexico and Central America, the origins and impacts of drug trafficking and drug war policy in Latin America, and immigration and deportation in the US.
