Who We Are
The Center for Immigration Policy & Research was founded and is co-directed by Dr. Rebecca Galemba, Associate Professor of International Studies and Dr. Lisa Martinez, Professor of Sociology and Criminology. Through the Knowledge Bridge competition process, they formed a multi-disciplinary faculty affiliate group from seven DU campus divisions, including the College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Sciences, Sturm College of Law, Morgridge College of Education, the Josef Korbel School of Global and Public Affairs, the Graduate School of Professional Psychology, the Graduate School of Social Work, and the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.

Rebecca Galemba
Through research, teaching, and community-engaged work, Rebecca draws on interdisciplinary approaches to enhance the public good and contribute to studies of social inequality in Latin America and the US. She engages students directly in research inside and outside of the classroom to prepare students to become active, critical, and reflective agents of social change around the world.

Lisa M. Martinez
As a sociologist, Lisa's scholarship contributes to conversations about the nuances and contours of Latinos’ lives, which she intertwines with her teaching and service. She has published work on Latino political participation, the 2006 immigrant rights mobilizations, and the mobility pathways of undocumented youth. Her work has been published in Social Forces, Mobilization, American Behavioral Scientist, Ethnicities, Latino Studies, and Law & Policy.
