Lisa M. Martinez, PhD

Lisa M. Martinez is Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminology at the University of Denver. She is also a core faculty member of the Latinx Center and co-director of the new DU Center for Immigration Policy and Research (CIPR). Professor Martinez studies the impact of immigration policies on the social, economic, and political well-being of Latina/o/x communities as well as educational, health-related, and job market outcomes among Latinas/os and immigrants. Her most recent project focuses on the pathways to mobility among recipients of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). Her research has been published in Social Forces, Mobilization, American Behavioral Scientist, Law& Policy, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, Ethnicities, and Latino Studies.

Book Manuscript

Professor Martinez is working on a book manuscript examining the educational, occupational, and political trajectories of undocumented young adults in Colorado to understand their incorporation following implementation of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA). The book will be published by NYU Press.
